![]() Gemini Displacement Catamaran The Gemini Catamaran range has been designed with trawling in mind but it is just as well suited to static work. Being a displacement catamaran, it does not require excessive draft to gain the desired bollard pull, as the twin engines each have 3:1 reduction and good water flow to the props. A basic sailaway vessel includes a hull, with all framing and anti-pitch foil, moulded deck beams, four main bulkheads, decks, engine beds, fuel tanks, all stern and steering gear, engine installation, gunnels, wheelhouse with windows and locking door, foredeck with cabin floors, four main-deck hatches, hand-pumps, bollards, fairleads, all basic plumbing, wiring and lighting. Every effort has been made to keep prices competitive, but the sheer size of these vessels and the amount of materials and labour required to build them, compared to a mono-hulled vessel of equivalent length, means catamarans generally cost 25% more to build. This figure is considered acceptable because of the proven superior sea-keeping qualities and earning capabilities they have. Although the Gemini G10 Catamarans are by far the largest 10m GRP workboat in Europe they will not need many tons on a licence, and can come under 100 vcu's if required. The Gemini Catamarans have a design that
enables the vessel to have a forward or
aft wheelhouse and can be fitted out in any number of combinations with a variety of engine options
including:
Ford, Daewoo, Perkins, John Deere,
Cummings etc. |
